Hello, I am always researching my somewhat mysterious grandfather (of King's Lynn, Norfolk) whose attestation papers say Royal Artillery but who was then transferred to the RHA, serving in India and then being recalled after separation to serve in the SA War. One of the mysteries is that he enlisted under one name then has an 'alias' discovered, perhaps to his own surprise! What is clear that his birth name was the 'alias' whereas his name he went by was that of his 'foster' family (this was before formal adoption was legalized in the 1920's in England). Anyway, I will be posting a query to get some help with his service record. I am so very pleased to join the group! Thank you for all your hard work. Best regards.
