Can anyone throw any light on this entry on the 1917 attestation papers of Harry Joseph Abbott?

He served in the Siege of Kimberley with the KTG (Kimberley Mine Ambulance Company-QSA DOK). He was born in 1865 in London.

Paul,

Could these be his service papers? The DoB almost matches and this search was for Engineers.

David,

That was quick and thank you. I had looked at these papers at the weekend but for some reason dismissed them! Now I see that the birth year is February 1887 minus age 21 years 10 months = 1865 not 1866 as calculated by FMP. Hiding in plain sight! I now strongly suspect this is the same man but will see if I can find a record of his emigration to South Africa. He has a very nice named star which I will post in the named star thread when I get a chance.

Regards
Paul
