I found this forum whilst looking for information on the CMR, in particular on a Sgj Maj W H Turnley who was my great-great grandfather and happened upon a post where I saw his medal set had been up for auction recently.

In situations such as these, family members sometimes write to the auction house asking if they will forward a message to the buyer of the medal asking if they would consider selling it to the family either now or when they dispose if it.

This does work as an auction company contacted me as I had purchased a Boer War/WW1 Group and his sons WW2 Royal Navy and Korean War Royal Canadian Navy Group and was I able to return it to the family.....

Gentlemen - Thank you, I'm going to do exactly like that, at the very least I'm happy they still exist and that I've seen them with my own eyes. I am very curious how they came to be in the UK too.
