Mike,

The KSA roll shows he earned the two clasp KSA. A note on the roll says he arrived in South Africa 26 October 1899.

Hi DAvid

Thank you for the information, and it is a real shame that neither his O.R. service papers or his Officer Service Record from WW1 seem to have survived. I had already recovered one KSA medal Roll for Sgt WHEATER, but the one you mentioned has more detail and info and gives me another piece of the puzzle - he arrived in SA 26/10/1899 and the Times published an article on 03/10/1899 that a draft of 1000 men from the ASC and General Hospital Staff were due to deploy to SA from Southampton on 06/10/1899 on the Braemar Castle so it seems that Sgt WHEATER may well have deployed on this vessel - more work to do here!!

Once again thanks for the help and best regards

Mike
