Hi

Elsewhere in this forum there is mention that Second Lieutenant Norman Patterson R.A. was the youngest recipient of the D.S.O. He appears to have been born on 17 April 1879.

I note that Second Lieutenant D L Campbell received the D.S.O. for an action at Alkmaar on 20 May 1901. (London Gazette, July 5, 1901 at page 4471). Campbell was born on 12 June 1881.

Was anyone younger than him awarded the D.S.O. for the Second Boer War?

Best regards
Peter

Peter,

Norman Patterson was an early front runner but we too decided it was probably D L Campbell.
