Hello and thank you for adding me to your site. I`m new to Boer War and indeed military history research in general but have discovered that my Maternal Great Great Grandfather served in the Boer War. He enlisted into the 2nd Dragoon Guards but seemed to spend most of the war attached to the Carabiniers and his QSA and KSA are both issued to this unit.
My question is this : Were the 6th used in any particular role where other regular cavalry units were not? Also it seems to be hard to find information on war diaries etc. I assumed because of the many changes and amalgamations to cavalry units in the 20th century??

Thanks Mike. Yes I've read it but that's about as detailed as it gets so far. I was hoping there some literature out there by contemporary diarists from the cavalry brigade.
