Hi

Does anyone know much about the Uitlander Refugee camps? My mother's grandmother told her they stayed in a tented camp on the beach in Durban. I've established this must be in Victoria Park. I know they were on the Reef until May 1899 as a child of theirs died there. The next time they show up in records is Nov 1899 when a child Symon Buller Scott is born. I suspect the name 'Buller' must have been given in honor to the General Redvers Buller? Her mother had family in Pinetown so I doubt they would have stayed in the tents long. Interested to know anything about the time they may have spent there, and how they got to Durban from JJB.
