Good morning all. I registered some 5 years ago but have not been an active member of this forum. Apologies but I don't do "social media" and find the concept and mechanics of forums a little alien. But I think I got it...
I have a specialised collection of books, photos and medals related to 10th and 15th Battalion of Imperial Yeomanry 1900 to 1903 among my regimental collection which extends 100 years before and after 1900. So I am interested in the past history from 1790 through to today. I have been dipped into the South African war occasionally and its taken me a long while to "get the bug" for the S.A. campaign as it seems less accessible than WW1 and even WW2. This said I now have some reference behind me and a outline of events in relation to my area of interest.

I am a collector and armature regimental historian and very open to sharing - without which we would all be ignorant of what happened before our time! I'm looking forward to being more involved in this community ;) and looking forward to growing my knowledge.

Wayne,
Well, it is never too late to get onto the Forum. I think you will find the contributors here to be a polite and knowledgeable bunch; helpful and open to new topics within the time frames. I for one would like to see posts concerning the 10th and 15th Bns of the IY and look forward to seeing them.
Regards
IL.

Welcome Wayne.

You are already having an influence as I am busy adding Gaskell's book to the site.

Gaskell's book is an interesting read but its difficult to put dates and places to the "story". At the end of the book you get a real sense of what it was like to be there but not much of an idea of what they did... in terms of events, casualties, where they were at any date etc...
I down loaded from a USA website as and then had to error correct it - if of any use? This version is missing any maps and pictures.
