If you add good photos of every metal and wood marking, you'll hopefully get wise responses.
My hunch is that the carbine was British made and correctly converted to .303, but has been embellished by markings applied unofficially. But I could well be wrong - often am!

In my opinion, the rifle initially illustrated is a "Khyber Pass Special" of indeterminate vintage. To support that opinion, I would cite the receiver markings being engraved rather than impressed. This is especially noticeable in the form of the proof marks.
