Hi Phil,
Welcome to the forum from another recent recruit. I hope that you enjoy being a member and benefiting from the collective knowledge as much as I have.
I live just a spin down the Hagley Road from you near Stourbridge.

Welcome to the Forum. Concerning Colonial QSA singles or groups, don't be too discouraged by an apparent lack of research prospects. True, sometimes paperwork does not exist or is fragmentary - and that can be the case for Imperial men as well. You never know until you look. A short anecdote to illustrate my point. Some time ago I won at auction a multi battle clasp QSA to a chosen man of Lord Roberts' Bodyguard (CinC BG).
The best researcher just could not find much at all of the personal details beloved of many (enlistment/discharge dates were known from David's work on this site) and that seemed to be that.
Was I downhearted? Never in this case or in a lot of others. Who could not weave a narrative around a specially selected NCO in the Bodyguard with a regimental number of 5; who earned the clasps "Relief of Kimberley", "Paardeburg", "Dreifontein", "Johannesburg", "Diamond Hill" and "Belfast"?
As I see it, that is the stuff of medal research and collecting.
Looking forward to your posts.
Regards
IL.

Welcome to the forum, Phil. Like others here, I love to try to research soldiers' lives, especially what became of them after the war.
