Hi,
i'm looking for any information on my great grandfather George Allen (one listed as 3206) who fought at Slingerfontein alongside his brother, L/Cpl James Allen (3656) who died there on 12/02/1900. There was a letter excerpted in the Kidderminster Shuttle from George to his mother describing James' injuries, passing on his last words and mentioning other Kidderminster men who died in the same battle. There's a third brother, Harry, who joined after his brother's death, but I don't know his service number yet. I've read everything I can find online but was hoping there's more out there on them!

Hello Benj
Welcome to the forum.
I have found a H Allen 2889 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment.
He was a corporal and his medal roll for his QSA states he was entitled to 2 clasps. Cape Colony and Orange Free State. There are 2 KSA rolls for him. One states 2nd Battalion and the other says 3rd Battalion.
Not sure if he is the 3rd brother but I thought the information may help?
Regards
Dave

Thank you Dave, I will have a search with this. I've met another Allen on the boards who is looking for the same brothers and people here have been really helpful in the old threads too, it's hard to find anything on Slingersfontein if they weren't officers.

This medal roll seems to have all the brothers listed.

that's great, thank you! I will have a search. I'm curious as to the identities because the worcesterregiment website mentions the Bisley regiment champion being hit in the the thigh but continuing shooting before going down with blood loss. My other relative who is searching found an article from George to his mum detailing how his brother James shot a few of the enemy but succumbed to an explosive round through the thighs. Nothing further online from what I can tell. I tried searching the Bisley archive but didn't see an Allen, so thought that the regiment might know. I understand that for regular soldiers, Kew would be the place to find out more?

thanks again for getting this for me
