Hi. I am new to the forum. Doing family research.
Any info on the above ?Thomas Boyd Robinson would be great.
Born Charlton in Kent
Married in Pietermaritzburg 31 August 1882. He must have come in with the military since I cannot find any info regarding entry into South Africa.

Hello BigAl
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry for late reply. Is it possible you can provide more details on Thomas?
There are quite a few Thomas Robinsons to check. I have found over 25 sailing from SA to England with family and single passengers. Occupations ranging from store keeping to miners
Is there any information suggesting he returned to England? Or did he reside in S A and never left?
As for the military connection it could be pre Boer War. But with a few extra clues the forum may be able to help. A DOB would be helpful ,I'm guessing around 1860s? There are 2 T B Robinsons I found who were in South Africa during the Zulu campaign. One in the Army Ordnance Corps and an entry for a T B Robinson 2nd Cape Yeomanry.

PS 1895 has Thomas B Robinson living in Berea, occupation Contractor, he joined the Inanda Freemasons lodge at Avoca Natal.

PPS. I also found a Thomas Boyd Robinson aged 50 as a member of the Lower Umkomaas Natal Freemasons lodge. Occupation Contractor. He joined the lodge in 1911 alas, if this is your relation? The entry in the file suggests he died on 14th July 1913.

It is very possible he could have made his own way to South Africa if not with the military to work as a Contractor. Will try and find a passenger list from UK to SA....could take a while but will give it a go.

Regards
Dave
