Hi all
I hope that I'm am posting this in the right place. I just wanted to introduce myself and outline why I have signed up. I've uncovered some family history recently and an obituary of my Great Grandfather in a newspaper from Wells in Norfolk outlines that he was in the Royal Engineers and then as a Reservist he rejoined the colours and served for the duration of the Boer War and then in fact remained in South Africa working on the railways until 1913. He returned to England and in 1915 joined the ASC, aged 50 and served in the 27th Motor Ambulance Convoy. I've yet to discover any details of his Boer War service and hoped someone could help me navigate my way through of this. His name was Edward Ladell Williams, Royal Engineers.
Kind regards
Rob

Hi Mike
Thank you so much for taking the time to look into this for me and for replying. I'm sure that must be him as we know from his early life in Norfolk, UK; that he was a blacksmith so that would tie in with being a shoeing-smith I would assume.
Thanks again and best wishes
Rob

Hi Rob,
Edward Ladell Williams is my Great Grand Father as well, ( Cecil Leonard was my Grand father) and I too have been researching his history. I seem to have found the same info as you in terms of the ASC and Boer War. ( I assume you have also found his medical reports etc from his WW1 discharge in April 1917? I would be happy to share everything I have. What I do not have is his obituary you referred to and a would love to read that. My contact is [email protected] Cheers Errol
