I am part of a small group trying to create a complete list of men born in or living in Nelson Province at the time of this conflict. Any suggestions about means of establishing that list would be welcome. We have just over 200 names at this stage but I am sure we do not have them all yet

Hi Peter. I assume you've done contemporary newspaper searches, but searching after the end of the war can be quite productive. A man's active service in South Africa can be mentioned in general news items, court appearances, and death reports and obituaries for decades later.
