Hi to all. I have recently started some research into my great uncles, the Flynn Brothers from Ballina. They were seven borthers all in the Connaught Rangers who fought in WW1 and all returned home safely. From what I know a number of them also fought in Africa and I am trying to determine who and where. Their father William was also a Connaught Ranger and we want to understand where he fought.
regards to all

Patrick Flynn, in the photo, is sporting a QSA medal awarded for the Boer War (1899-1902) so he is an obvious one. The medal rolls show that 11 different Flynn's served with the Connaught's. One forfeited his medal, which was returned. Their initials include T, P, J and M - so very likely that they (many of them) are your family.

I tried to locate papers on Find My Past for them but was unsuccessful - perhaps someone else has better luck.

Regards

Rory

Thank you very much. I know that the boys were:
John 294
Martin 5378/389103/6360
Patrick 6833 wounded in Colenso 15th December 1899. Awarded Queens SA medal
William 8119
Thomas 7761 / 56837
Chris 9859
George 3779
so this helps eliminate some records, but William father defeats me so far.
