Josua Johannes Joubert 2 years 10 months ago #80430

Hi all,
My great great grandfather was Josua Johannes Joubert (1845-1910) and we think served in the Boer Carolina Commando. Josua's son was named Frans Paul Kruger Joubert (1895-1964). With a name like that (I have the death certificate) I assume Josua had a strong allegiance to Paul Kruger. Passed down the family history is Paul Kruger was Frans godfather and promised to pay for his schooling but Paul Kruger died in 1904 when Frans was only 9. Anyway, family history says they lived on a farm outside of Krugersdorp and became very poor and hungry during the Boer War and eventually gave up the farm and moved to Krugersdorp.
Any information on Josua would be most appreciated.

Josua Johannes Joubert appears on the Carolina Cdo roll on this site, so his Vorm B is probably available if you contact Dewald Nel, who has access to these and is affordable.
I can't see him in the lists of names (wounded, POWs, or listed by Wyk) in the thesis on the Carolina Commando by Grobler.
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.
