Hello all,

I have visited this site a few times in the past, but only recently heard about the forum, and figured it was about time that I joined! I am a collector of medals to the Canadian Army generally, with a specific interest in Lord Strathcona's Horse, the unit I served in at the start of my military service. I have been collecting for just over 40 years, and keep provenance lists of all the QSAs to Canadians that I can record as being extant. I am interested in Canadian participation in the Boer War and in the conflict generally, and while the bulk of the QSAs I hold are named to Canadian units, I do have a few QSAs to non-Canadian units as well. My great-grandfather, Henry Charles Drummond Godefroy, served in the war as a member of the Volunteer Company of the 1st Bn Essex Regiment, with service #6963, receiving the QSA with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and South Africa 1901, and this medal has been lost to our family, so if anyone out there comes across it, I'd be happy to hear about it! I am happy to help with any queries about Canadian issues, and look forward to participating in the forum.

Best wishes,

Jim

Good morning Jim and welcome to the forum.
Your account of Corporal Mills of Strathconas' Horse and his QSA is a cracking medal to kick off with!
I look forward to seeing your future threads/posts.
Cheers Steve
