"Surgeon-major Perry Marsh, brother of Mr. C.W. Earle Marsh, ex-High Sherrif of Monmouthshire died of enteric fever on the 22nd June inst. at Deelfontein. The deceased was principal medical officer at De Aar. He was licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons, and had taken the diploma in public healtg. He entered the Army Medical Corps in July 1882, and became Surgeon-major in
July 1884. He was in the Burmese Expiditionof 1885 and
1887, and was present at several engagements. For this campaign Major Marsh had the medal with clasp. One of the other brothers of deceased is Dr. Bulwer Marsh of Newport.
Deceased's father was the late Captain Henry Godfrey
Marsh, of Winterbourne Park, Gloucestershire, and J.P. for Monmouthshire."
