Pete,

Despite his short service, 19 February to 25 June 1902, he earned the QSA (3) CC OFS SA02 but it seems both the medal and separate SA02 clasp were returned to the authorities in 1907.

He appears not to have had any prior service in any other unit.

If Pete isn't in the Westmorland area and hasn't been able to visit Kendal Library, I don't mind going there and looking for any mentions of J. G. Braithwaite in The Westmorland Gazette, early 1902.

Thank you for the photo of the Attestation paper,
What were his medals for and why would they have been returned in 1907,
We were always told John was killed in a White Horse in the Boar war
