Being new to this site, I am having a bit of trouble finding information on The Kaffarian Rifle Stories of their actions in the Boer War…. Can someone please tell me where they are mentioned .

If you go to Unit Information in the panel at left, go to South African Units subheading and then go to page 9, you will find some info on that unit and nominal roll pages.
There are also medal roll pages on the National Archives site; accessible on this site.
Good luck with your search.

IL.

Linneyl Thank you very much for your information. I am trying to link up on Facebook and Messenger with Kaffarian Rifles East London,to find more on my Great Uncle Ernest Jeffs but they do not reply to me. I am in Australia.

I am also from OZ. I had a look for your GU on the KR nominal roll (in case you have not, so far) and it shows him as initially having the Regimental number 30018; which was altered to 1853 for some reason. He served as a Trooper between 8th February 1901 and 12th August 1901 and earned the clasp "Cape Colony" on his QSA (medal roll WO100/254 page 36) and presumably also the "South Africa 1901" clasp off another roll page. The medal was issued to him 21st October 1903. Your GU does not feature in the casualty rolls for which I am sure he was grateful.
As a matter of interest, there is a Regimental History of that unit; "The Kaffrarian Rifles 1876-1986" by Francis L,. Coleman. It has a reasonable section covering the Boer War. However, it does not mention any Tpr. E. Jeffs.
I can't help at all on any biographical details. Not a strength, I fear. I usually get a professional to do that when needed.
As before, good luck with your request.
Regards
IL.

Hello Philso
Could this be your Great Uncle?

There is also an address on his Kaffrarian medal roll which states his father's abode as being 79 Longley Road Tooting Surrey.

Dave......
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave
