I don't know his full history. I have him going back to his old trade of Publican in Liverpool, the coach and Horses. But I do know as he seperated from his wife in the 1920's. He became a ARP warden in 39, but death cert he is down as a Glass grinder at Pilks. One thing which makes me feel he never joined the police is his height, which on the docs Dave sent through, his height is given as 5-6 and a bit and I feel it is only recently that the police have lowered the height restrictions. Ooops, I meant he returned to his trade after WW1, his marriage cert in 1908 shows him as barman In Liverpool.

Ah, a different Anders then. I'll look out for him next time I go through the St Helens Reporter.

Berenice, myself and my sister have a memory of a picture from the Reporter back in the late forties early fifties of Richards sister Jane Anders. She is being evicted from a cottage, which I believe was in Washaway lane, Green Leech. She is sitting down holding a Boer War rifle and keeping the baliffs at bay, she is surrounded by her possessions. I have tried to find that pic from the Reporter and still have not managed it, so if you spot it give us a shout....please.

Hi Ray
Well done Dave for so much detail for Ray’s family history
Do you have his medal ?

Dave
Is there as much detail available for people serving in the 1906 Natal Rebellion?

Clive

Hello Clive
I'm not sure about the amount of records which exist regarding the Natal Rebellion.
The force was mostly S A units , I would imagine the South African archives would hold details.
I believe Find my Past and Forces War records may have some details. However, I'm not sure how informative they are. If you are looking for a specific person who served , it may be prudent to post it on the forum, I would imagine that there will be someone who could guide you or help you with your quest.

Dave.......
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave
