Memorial plaque inside church

A rectangular brass plaque with a latin cross on the top border mounted on a black marble backboard, with a decorative line border and a chalice engraved centrally with the lettering in black and red capitals.
Inscribed thus:

"A M D G

AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF

WILLIAM LOMAS IMPERIAL YEOMANRY

CHARLES MEREDITH IMPERIAL YEOMANRY

JEREMIAH MAPP IMPERIAL YEOMANRY

HARRY WADLOW 19TH HUSSARS

OLD BOYS OF WORFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL
WHO FELL IN THE
GREAT BOER WAR 1899-1902

THIS TABLET AND CHALICE PRESENTED BY
MASTERS AND SCHOOLFELLOWS

REQUIESCENT IN PACE"

Worfield is a very picturesque Shropshire village, the nearest major town being Bridgnorth. Three of the Worfield Grammar School alumnii served with the Imperial Yeomanry, which is no surprise really, as they could have been sons of the local gentry. Further research may elaborate on this hypothesis.
Worfield Grammar School is no longer in existence as far as I can see.

Please note, the church is open daily to visitors but car parking can be an issue in the narrow lanes and village centre.
