BELOW ARE IMAGES OF BOER WAR EXHIBITS
The Royal Welsh Fusiliers (23rd Regiment of Foot) is one of the oldest regiments of the British army with an illustrious history.
The walk through the museum within the castle takes the visitor along the history of the RWF with exhibits and dioramas of each campaign in which they were involved.
Please find above images of the Boer war relevant to this forum. Also of particular interest is the film on a TV screen revolving play loop showing men at work in theatre.
Numerous medal groups consisting of the Queen's South Africa medal are on display.
There are steep stone staircases to negotiate as you would expect in a castle of the period, so possibly unsuitable for those not fleet of foot.
Admission charge was £11.10 (02/09/2022) inclusive of admission to the castle, RWF Museum and a guide book. You may leave and return to the castle as you wish on the day that you have purchased your admission ticket.
An interesting regimental museum which I thoroughly recommend to visit.
