I am a family historian researching my great great grandfather Charles Thomas Nicholls born in 1860 - 1937.
Newspaper reports he was a Color Sergeant in 3rd Battalion, Ballarat and the Field Electrical Engineers, Melbourne.
So far I have not found any records of him being in the services.
It is believed that he was in South Africa during war time. This is supported from the photos
I have received.
I am hoping that the knowledgeable members can help me out by identifying the area or from the banner in one photo which says
(They shall beat their swords into plowshears and
their spears into pruninghooks) A quote from the bible?
Is it appropriate to post photo's here. cheers

Welcome to the Forum. Quotation is from ISAIAH 2:4. I had a look on the Oz-Boer site and there is no C.T. Nicholls mentioned as being known as a Colonial Australian Boer War veteran - although he could have done service with a British Regiment/Corps from what you have said. If you could post relevant photos of your GGF, it may assist in identification.

Welcome to the Forum, Julezz61d.

Yes, you can definitely post pictures as attachments to your posts. They need to less than or equal to 2,000 pixels in either dimension. Jpgs of 100-200k work well.

Once the image is/are created, click Attachment, then Add Files ..., attach the files. Lastly, in the text, choose where you want the image to appear by placing your cursor there and then click on the Insert button below the image. You will see a code, eg placed in the text. Once the post is Submitted, the picture will replace the code.[Attachment ... ] placed in the text. Once the post is Submitted, the picture will replace the code.
