ST. THOMAS A BECKET CHURCH,
WESTERLEIGH ROAD,
PUCKLECHURCH,
BS16 9RB.

ORDNANCE SURVEY GRID REFERENCE: ST699766

ST. THOMAS A BECKET CHURCH

The memorial is of a brass plaque with single line border and dedication in black incised lettering in uppercase.
Mounted on the Chancel arch.

The inscription thereon as follows:

"TO PRESERVE THE MEMORY OF
CORPORAL W.S. NICHOLS, 17TH LANCERS.
AND
PRIVATE E. COUSINS, GLOUCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT."

"BOTH MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN SOUTH AFRICA 1899-1902."

"BLESSED BE THE LORD MY STRENGTH WHO TEACHETH MY HANDS TO WAR AND MY FINGERS TO FIGHT."

Unfortunately, the church was locked on my visit as I was passing through the village today.
If anyone should have a picture of the plaque, please feel free to add to the thread.
