I have just trawled throught the transcribed British Army Local Armed Forces enrolment forms, Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902, uploaded onto Findmypast. Sadly only trsnscriptions, not the original images.

However, I have found that one of my men enrolled in the Claremont Town Guard on 13 May, 1901, and against 'Former Regiment' it has 'Col Volunteers, Claremont Town Guard'.

I can find nothing regards the existance of a Claremont Town Guard, nor find any medal roll.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Nick

Claremont Town Guard was formed from residents of the town of Claremont on the Cape Peninsula. I believe it had two companies. The unit was incorporated into the Cape Peninsula Regiment.
