I've heard stories about my great grandfather who were part of a team in the ABO that blew up trainlines. The English caught him but on a train to Capetown he managed to escape and return to Johannesburg. He continued with his activities and was then caught again. To avoid being executed he scrambled the order of his name when caught the second time. This time he was taken apparently taken to a POW camp. I've found a record of him inlisting with the "Staats-Artilierie" on 16/08/1899 Krugersdorp. Where can I look for any other war info on him?
