Hello Everyone! My name is Martina, and I'm doing a genealogical investigation (In fact my first one) about the father of my Great-Grand Mother. His name was Henry Theirs, he was a sapper during the Second Anglo-Boer War. No. 3226. He fought in Cape Colony, Transvaal and Orange Free State.

He fought in:

* The 2nd. Cheshire Royal Engineers (Railway Volunteers.)
* The 10th Railway Company, Royal Engineers.
* The 31st (Fortress) Company, Royal Engineers.
* The G Company (where he was transferred, 30 Jul 1901).

I've learned a lot about him through this website. I DO recommend it, cause it's an amazing, and fulfilled one. It has a lot of information about the Anglo-Boer War, and you can contact specialists who'll help you with your investigation If you need so.
It's the perfect website if you want to discover, learn and understand new things, about the Boer War. It's something I didn't expect.

I especially wanted to say thank you to Dave F, and to David (Smethwick), because they made a big effort and helped me a lot with my research.

Currently, I'm looking for a picture of Henry Theirs, and for information about other soldiers that knew him during the war. It's a hard work but a very interesting one too. I've also realised that there's a post about the 2nd. Cheshire Royal Engineers (Railway Volunteers.) on this website, as well.

So, If your relative, the one who you are investigating, knew Henry, or fought in the same company, or if you find any photos of him, or of the companies he used to serve in, just contact me, ¡I would be very happy to discover more about him!

Thank you very much, for the motivation you gave me!

Regards,

Martina.:)

Thank you for answering!

I hope so, so someday I can find a photo and see Henry at last.

Regards, and good luck with your investigation.

Martina.

Martina,

I looked on Ancestry to see if he is mentioned in anyone's research but without success.

His service papers exist. Do you already have these?

Kind regards
David

I think I have some of his service papers, but maybe not all of them.

Could you send them to me?

My regards,

Martina
