Just a little introduction as requested. :)
Doing family research and discovered the above as a Grenadier Guard. Not sure I can discover much about his service as I have his service records. He was promoted to Lance Sgt but reduced to ranks between two stints in South Africa due to A.W.O.L. Any thoughts. comments welcomed.

Service Records attached.

Welcome Iain,

It is interesting that he served in Gibraltar and South Africa over a 3 month period and managed to take part in the initial engagements of the war.

He served in the 3rd Grenadier Guards. His QSA with clasps Belmont and Modder River are listed on WO100/163p187 along with the note 'To England, 31 January 1900'. The Transvaal and SA02 clasps are listed on WO100/163p303. His name is correctly crossed through on the KSA roll, WO100/317p184.

There is a section on the work of the 3rd Battalion here: www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/im...558-grenadier-guards

Best wishes
David
