Hi All, looking for a bit of guidance...
I am researching a Patrick Coan 4995 2nd Batallion Royal Scots Fusiliers...
I have found out he was wounded on Pieters Hill...The next he is invalided out of the Army Dec1900.
Are there hospital records that I can research his injury?

Welcome to the Forum
Some time ago, I had a professional research a wounded chap from the KRRC for details, etc. It turned out that my man was allowed a pension for wounds received - and there was a lot of associated detail. Not all of it very pleasant. For your chap in 2 RSF, I would begin my search for personal papers and ascertain if he received a pension due to wounds on service.
Could be a long shot, you never know.

Hello Gregon

Welcome to the forum

I have had a look through your man's paper work and unfortunately there was no exact detail pertaining to his wound received at Pieters. He was in S A for 156 days and was discharged as medically unfit on the 31st December 1900. Ancestry has quite a few papers relating to Patrick going back to his Milita attestation with the 91st Regiment of foot. There are also medical records and pension information. Alas, no mention of his wound in South Africa that I could find. A search of the newspaper archives maybe useful?

Regards

Dave......
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave
