Thanks EFV :-)

I'll search and see if I can find that book.

No, there are no connection between Anderson and the Scandinavian Corps. According to the medals, he continued on the British side during WW1.

Cheers,
Stefan

Nice! - It's written by the Swede Stellan Bojerud.
I never had the chance to meet him before he passed away, but he wrote a couple of interesting articles and books.

One book was about Ivar Thord Grey, that lived an interesting life and also participated in the Boer war:

Described as:

Scarce Commemorative Badge for the Scandinavian (Swedish) Volunteers Fighting with the Boers in Boer War,

Scarce Commemorative Badge for the Scandinavian (Swedish) Volunteers Fighting with the Boers in Boer War, the white metal rectangular badge shows a group of Boer soldiers shooting at the British naval forces landing British soldiers off the coast of South Africa, with slogan 'GOTEBORGS SKYTTEKRETS'. Swedish silver marks to the reverse of the badge and pin fitting. Would appear to be a commemorative badge produced sometime after the conflict.

Hi,

I wouldn’t buy that as having anything to do with the Boer War.
“Göteborgs Skyttekrets” can be translated as The Shooting Society of Gothenburg. Gothenburg is a coastal town, and that could be the motif of the plaque — that they were ready to help defend the city in case of war. This plaque was probaly made around WW1, since the Swedish Homeguard was established in WW2. The members trained in their civilian clothes, which would match the “shooting gentlemen” seen in this photo:
