Hello!

I'm looking forward to use this forum to find facts for my research:
Long term - Scandinavian Corps (Skandinaviska kåren).
Short term - Find out more about the Dane John Peter Anderson, born 1864 in Copenhagen/Denmark and according to his QSA medal he was in the Brabant's Horse.

Regards,
Stefan

Welcome Stefan!
You might find it interesting to look at the foreign volunteers here:
wmbr.org.za/foreign-volunteers/
and search this site too eg:
www.angloboerwar.com/forum/20-tribute-me...rsfontein-1899#61890

I note men with similar surnames to your John Anderson fought with the Boers:
Andersen, Anders (Nor)
Andersen, Thorvald (Dan)
Andersson, J.C.W. (Dan)
Andersson, Johan Alfred (Sw)
Andersson, Carl Gustav (Sw)
Andersson, Julius (Sw) ( ? 11/12/1899)
Andersson, Pontius Alexus (Sw)
Andersson, H (Sw)

When you have specific questions you'll get an abundance of help from forummers, I think.

Stefan, one of the best sources for the Skandinavian volunteers in the Boer War is the work by Cornelis De Jong from 1983 (refer hereunder) There are two or three typed volumes in Afrikaans and I don't know whether there is an English version. As John Peter Anderson earned a QSA, he must have served with the rednecks. If he also served in the Skandinavian Corps, he must have changed sides sometime during the war (so-called Joiner). Sadly, this occurred rather frequently, especially among POW's. The large number of Joiners fighting against their former friends towards the end of the war caused great upset among Republican forces and was one of the reasons for the Boers to accept the Peace terms imposed by the British.
