Morton Ballyfrench is listed as the author of a 1909 book entitled The Lighter Side of War. The author claims to have been in the Militia and received a commission in 1901 before embarking for South Africa out of Southampton. I can find no record of Mr. Ballyfrench in the Army Lists, he never says what regiment he served in, and he tends to hide important details which might reveal his identity like the date he set sail or the name of the ship. Any ideas who this mystery fellow is? Thanks.
