Can anyone tell me more about the A2 size chelsea out Pensioner ledgers held at the National Archives under WO116?

I'm hoping my great great grandfather 624 PTE G Poole, The Gloucestershire Regiment will be mentioned in the January - July 1900 ledger as he was seriously wounded in the left knee by a shell fragment at Klip Drift on the 16th February 1900.

Any insight into what these look like and what sort of information they contain would be very welcome as TNA says they can only be viewed in person.
