HI can anyone assit .I have a rifle marked 1892 VR Enfield 11.I was under the impression that it is a normal lee metford but the lenght is only about 102cm.Can it be a lee metford carbine ?.I see the carbines was only really manufactured in 1894?Bolt is on the side.Thanks Erastus

NITRO PROVEN WRITTEN ON IT. SEEMINGLY A SERIAL NUMBER 2017 A. PERHAPS A CONVERSION?

102 cm is indeed the length of a Lee-Metford carbine. Rob may be able to explain the 1892 date and serial number 2017 A, which do not work for a carbine that came into production in 1894. As you suggest, perhaps a conversion?
