After dogged research and finding my late father's birth family in 2017, (he was adopted at the age of 2), I discovered some years ago that his Grandfather, my G Grandfather, was Sgt Francis Morris, 30704 of the 88th IY, 9th Battalion. This website and forum were of great interest and assistance and I've not been on it of late. However, knowing mountains about him now, ships he went to SA and on in 1901 and on which he returned in 1902, his multi-clasp QSA etc., I was surprised when, this week, Ancestry sent me some information, on a military form, to say he was a casualty in the Boer War in a place called Frobisher Bay. This seemed really strange as a) nothing had previously come to light about any injury and b) the only Frobisher Bay I can find is in Canada - and he definitely wasn't there! I've found a list of all the Bays in South Africa and there isn't one with the same name, or even close, so it's all rather odd. Is anyone able to comment on this please? Thank you in anticipation.

Aha…. Thank you, Rob - and my sincere apologies for raising ‘an old chestnut’. If Ancestry is pushing out erroneous information, it needs to get its act together. I will flag it up BUT I doubt it will do owt. I reported a very obvious error in something a few years ago and yup, it’s still there! Mistakes happen, we are all guilty of quite a few in our lifetimes and Ancestry is no different. But it’s annoying when they actually ask us to tell them of errors, doesn’t correct them, doesn’t even respond… and then charges eye-watering annual fees for subscribers to see the uncorrected error continuing to be picked up. Hey ho. Rant over! Thank you, Rob, for putting me straight. A brilliant forum! Jo
