I am not sure how I would have been able to progress my search without the assistance of this forum or Cape Town family history.

From reading ABW's, Unit Information page, I have now a much better understanding of the British Army's structure and from there, re reading Percy Dalton's attestation records, it was signed by a Colonel and a Sergent from the 10th Lincoln regiment, so I assume this was the regiment Percy served in, when at Cape Town 1902-1907.

I would suggest that this is the unit that he served with.
Perhaps though, he might have been RE attached to the 10th Lincoln Reg ??
