After looking around a bit more in the forums I noticed the "introduction" thread. I figure I would post here to introduce myself.
My name is Robert, I live on Whidbey Island in Washington State. I have always had an interest in all things historical, primarily personal items and experiences from war. I have inherited this love of history from my father who has been collecting most of his life.
His father served in the first world war as an infantryman in the American 91st division out of camp Lewis, Washington. My father has many very interesting items his father brought back from France.
I think looking at these artifacts and imagining their stories is what set me on the path of collecting and reading I enjoy now. I am forever grateful.
This site is amazingly entertaining, I am very impressed with the amount of information I can glean from here about a war that has so little information to find. I am certain I will be back many times to explore. Keep up the good work, and I am very happy to have discovered this site.
