Hi everyone :P ...I am researching my family tree and have come across a photo of my maternal Grandfather, in what appears to be, an Imperial Yeomanry uniform (Grandad is on the right). He has three stripes on his uniform but at the time he was only about 22 or 23 years of age.

Could someone enlighten me as to which unit this uniform belongs please?

Kind regards

Hello,
Well, I'm going to say The Prince of Wales's Own West Yorkshire Regiment, because your grandfather appears to be wearing their White Horse of Hanover badge on his FS cap.

Hi David. Thanks for replying so quickly.

Grandad's name was James Knott, he was born 1872 in Winteringham, Lincolnshire. I found this info on another website
Knott, James 1750, Corporal 22nd Coy., 2nd Bn. I.Y not sure if it's grandad though.

Kind regards

Hi Frank...Thanks for your reply.

I don't know much about uniforms but although Grandad was born in Lincolnshire, he settled in Hull, E. Yorkshire, so doubt he would have joined the W. Yorkshire regiment, I may be wrong though, as he did marry in Sheffield, W. Yorkshire, don't think he actually lived there though.

Kind regards
