Hello all,
I'm currently researching the far reaches of my maternal grandmother's family, Hillman from Sussex, during Victorian times. The vast majority of that family are ordinary Ag Labs through and through but occasionally a daring one jumped ship (if you can excuse the mixed metaphor) and joined the army. It is in search of one such that I find myself washed up on your shores (more mixed metaphors I'm afraid). I shall post more fully on that individual, who carries the name of Laker rather than Hillman (the Hillmans seemed remarkably adept at producing daughters) in a more suitable section but shall take this opportunity to say "Hello".
I would also like to say that I'm a member and mod at the
Genealogy Forum
where there is a thriving community on all things genealogical (excepting the Boer War) with specific emphasis for those blessed souls who have or had family ties with the lands West of Brummagem and South of Wolverhampton. Should this paragraph be considered against the spirit of this forum I apologise and ask that a mod remove it forthwith.
