Dear ladies and gents,
I am currently researching for my master thesis in history, with the subject of British military tactical intelligence, the how and why, during the second boer war. I believe that something can still be learned from that war.

I primarily seek information about the tactical intel gathering, and COIN warfare.
Unfortunately, as I live in Denmark, I can't go to KEW to view all the papers there.

Can I ask, what is COIN warfare?

London is only 90 minutes away from you so I encourage you to pop over and do some primary research.

COIN is Counter-Insurgency warfare. I might as well have written guerilla warfare, since the boers in reality weren't insurgents, but alas, it is the modern term.

Yeah, I know, it just annoys me, that the archives haven't been digitalized yet.

Digitising the Archives is, to be fair, quite a big job! In the interim, nothing is quite the same as leafing through the original paperwork, seeing the handwritten sketches of battle, the hastily penned recommendations for awards, the signatures of Roberts, Buller et al.
