Hi Brett,
Yes, I noticed that too, but, the clasps are all verified and I would certainly love to own this particular medal!
Best Regards Frank

Hi Brett and Frank,
Thank you for your valued input. I attach the Imperial Light Horse Roll and Colonial Scouts Roll.
Interesting to note that:907 Pte.A.Barclay has the same entitlement. Interesting reading the remarks on roll.
Neverless to say my research continues with this interesting Officer.
Regards
Elandslaagte

I have had another thought about Bevan and his 'Relief of Ladysmith' clasp being credited on the ILH roll. Whoever drew up the roll was simply listing a clasp to which Bevan was clearly entitled even though it had nothing to do with his ILH service.

The reason for suggesting this is because I have a QSA which has parallels with that of Bevan. I have a post about this man elsewhere on this forum and will try to post a link later. Like Bevan, this man (774 Tpr A H Johnson, ILH) served in another unit (Natal Mounted Rifles) during the Ladysmith operations and, again like Bevan, he joined the ILH after the siege was lifted. The parallel continues with Johnson being credited on the ILH roll for a clasp someone thought he earned before joining the ILH. In this instance, the clasp credited ('Natal') was an error and Johnson did in fact earn the 'Elandslaagte' and 'Defence of Ladysmith' clasps while serving with the NMR. Johnson was later killed and the QSA was issued to his widow with the clasps listed on the ILH roll. Had Johnson lived, he would no doubt have had the mistake corrected, since 'Elandslaagte' and 'Defence of Ladysmith' are certainly far more worthy clasps than 'Natal'.

One of the reasons that the QSA is such a collectible medal is its research potential and all the highways and byways that may come to light.
