I am trying to find information on my great grandfather, we have a photo of him in a military uniform and I think it relates to the Boer War. His name was Thomas Armstrong, he was born in Earl Shilton, Leicestershire about 1866, and lived in Hinckley for much of his adult life. his uniform appears to have a white belt around his waist, white collar and wrist bands and three V shaped bands on his right arm. I would appreciate any information people may have on him or if you can point me in the right direction.

Hello Dave and welcome to this forum,
The uniform appears to be that worn by Infantry regts pre Anglo Boer War and post 1881, will have to sit down and have a closer look it!

Hello Dave

There is a set of WO96 Militia service papers on findmypast.co.uk for a Thomas Armstrong of Earl Shilton, Leics. He served with the 3rd bn from 1883-1890 discharged "totally unfit".
