Hi Frank. Crikey, I owe you a cyper Guinness for the information you have just provided me. Many thanks and greatly appreciated. It confirms the clasps on his two medals, it's great to see his name among fellow names that served with the battalion during the campaign and may have known. I notice his 1901/1902 clasps record him as being with the 2nd Btn which correlates with his transfer to this Btn in India during April 1902. For your interest I will add a few pictures and further medal detail to support the info you have kindly provided. It's a very complicated jigsaw :) but I am piecing it together very slowly !

Did a bit of digging and discovered that medals for service in South Africa were presented to the Connaught Rangers for the very first time on parade in Ahmednagar on the 22nd October 1902 to Lieutenants A WIse, De B WIckham and 120 NCOs and men of which medals in 37 cases bore 5 clasps. John has 5 clasps and was with this Btn in India during this time.
