Hello all, I am Dave Broome. The reason I'm here is because I'm a second year student at Canterbury Christ Church University and have begun my proposal for my dissertation, funnily enough, on the Boer War. As I haven't started my heavy research as of yet I haven't tottered on up to the NA nor the IWM. However, I am struggling to find information on the units I am basing my dissertation on (family members who served). If anyone could please help me by pointing me in the right direction to find information for these I would very much appreciate it; 75th Company, 18th Battalion, 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharp Shooters), 111th Company, Yorkshire Dragoons, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry and 1st Malta Company, 9th Battalion, Mounted Infantry. I have the names of the members of my family who served as well, bar the full name for the 1st Malta Company, only his last name. If anyone can help me, it would be so very appreciated! You can also find me on the joys of Facebook as Dave 'Whiskey' Broome, and yes, I am a big whiskey man. All the best, Dave

Thank you very much, Mike,
Yes I have;
Captain Percy Robert Harding Ramsey: 75th Company, 18th Battalion, 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharp Shooters)

Quarter Master Sergeant John Thomas Towse: 111th Company, Yorkshire Dragoons, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry

5522 Private T Hodson, 1st Malta Company, 9th Battalion, M.I.

Ahh that is brilliant thank you, I imagine I can nab that on Amazon? Thank you I shall also have a butchers on Amazon for that book on the 75th - I started some basic research over good ol' Wiki but have gotten no-where. My dad has also written an un-published book on our family history but gives a broad account of said units. Obviously for a dissertation it has to be very specific and not book like. After May I will be visiting Kew and such, I am also hoping in the next few days to contact the forums' contact in SA.

Thank you for your time and help in replying,

Dave Broome

Quarter Master Sergeant John Thomas Towse: 111th Company, Yorkshire Dragoons, 3rd Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry

Good Morning David.....

I have checked the Imperial Yeomanry Roll and found the following:

Ramsay, Percy Robert 15498, Trooper 75th Coy., 18th Bn. I.Y.

and

Towse, John 32468, Squadron Q.M. Sergeant 111th Coy., 3rd Bn. I.Y.

I hope that Frank can have a look at this on line for you......
