Dear Administrator
I wish to request permission to use some images from your website. We are compiling a book of soldier and sailor histories from memoirs of their descendants with a mission to help young people to appreciate what their forebears went through during the wars through the ages. I have been researching those who took part in the Boer War and have found your site EXTREMELY valuable whilst researching various topics.
We like to show an photograph of the soldier where there is one, but where none is available, we have to rely on websites such as yours to provide photos of their regiment, in order to educate the youth about what the uniform and badge might have looked like.
We do the research as volunteers and are not paid for our services. There will be a charge for the book, to cover printing costs and to raise funds for education. We are happy to accompany the photos with an acknowledgment such as: Kind permission to copy this image given by the Anglo-Boerwar.com website or something similar. Once we have established whether this is something you allow, we will be happy to discuss whether a fee is payable, and whether we would need to speak to the person who submitted an image onto the Forum for permission as well. In order for the photo to be a good enough resolution for printing, it is likely a scan of the original would need to be made.
Look forward to hearing from you, as we do not want to breach any copyright rules.
Thank you very much.
Regards, Rainyland
