My first post! Only just found this site. I am the grandson of Private 1037 (R) C Chantler of the Worcestershire Regt. His brother Private 1881 J Chantler served along side of him. Discovering their participation in this conflict led me to collect Worcestershire medals. I now have a collection of over 150 much to the dismay of my wife! I am still searching for the Chantler medals, if anyone has information, I would be very pleased. I recently acquired a QSA to Corporal 5115 F. Jones of the Worcesters. On the medal rolls it just states 'dead', as was the norm then. I have found that he died at Thaba Nchu but not what actually happened. Can anyone enlighten me.

Thanks, Rich.

Rich

According to the book 'In Memoriam' by Steve Watt, 5115 L/Cpl F Jones died of disease at Thaba Nchu on 29/7/1900 and is buried there.

Mike.
Thanks for that. I have read it and judging by some of the earlier dates my granddad would have been in the regt. at this time.

Brett.
Thanks for that. I can add a note to the paperwork for my medal.
