Harold Edward Voyce, born in Birmingham in 1881, fought as a Private in the Boer War, reg number 2766. I have found a record of the Queens South Africa medal which he would have had but I believe no detailed record of his service in that war exists. However I am wondering if records exist of where the Coldstream Guards saw action during that war.
Harold survived the war and afterwards became a Detective Constable on the London to Brighton Railway. He again saw action with the Coldstream Guards in WW1 and was killed in December 1914.

Hi JSH,
Welcome to the forum.
2766 H E Voyce was awarded the QSA with clasps Cape Colony and South Africa 1902 as you say there seems to be a lack of service records.
Interestingly there is a 2295 J H Voyce serving with the C.G. who gained the QSA with clasps Belmont and Modder River he also received the KSA with the standard date clasps.
I wonder if this was a relative?
The C.G. were heavily involved at the actions at Modder River and Belmont.

Thank you for that information. Having researched the Voyce family I can tell you they were not related.
I will look up the two places you mentioned.JSH

JSH,

Welcome to the forum.

There is an MIC for Harold E Voyce, No 2766 in the Coldstream Guards. This only shows entitlement to the BWM and VM.

There is a separate entry for his 1914 Star which records his KIA and that he went to France on 30 August 1914.

Given the clasp entitlement on his QSA, I would guess that he was a late entrant tot he war and did not see too much action.

Best wishes
David
