My great grandfather Isaac Charles Bridger is believed to have died in the Boer War around 1902. He was born in Walton , Chertsey , Surrey on 26 Feb 1874 ; he married Sarah Ann Furlonger on 8 Feb 1899 in Milford , Surrey ; and their son Charles Ernest Bridger was born on 21 April 1900. The family believe he may have served with the East Surrey Regiment or the Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment , both of which seem to have sailed for South Africa in Oct 1899. My husband and I have been to Kew and can find no record of him , dead or alive . Both his marriage certificate and his son's birth certificate are endorsed on the reverse as entered on Page 153 of the register of marriages births etc by H M paymaster in Beverley . Does anyone know how to search this register ? How else could we find any record of him ? Any comments would be very gratefully received.
