I come to this forum as I am trying to piece together my grandfather's participation in the Boer war. His name was Bell Pratt, born in Bradford in 1875, went to Canada and joined the NW mounted police then the Canadian Army, 3rd Royal Canadian Regiment A Company and I believe he served with them in SA until discharged in Feb 1901 (at rank of Corporal). He then seemed to serve in the SA Constabulary (A division - A1755) as Sergeant from May 1901 to April 1903 when he returned to the UK, ultimately serving in and surviving WW1 in the Bradford Pals earning the MC. I have a lovely photo of him in the SAC, his QSA medal with a number of clasps and a few other bits of paper including one where he has written that he found it in a farm and appears to be a letter addressed to General Botha and is then countersigned by him. I've no idea of its authenticity!
